Check if you qualify for Pennsylvania’s Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program. The deadline to apply is Monday, June 30, 2025.
The Pennsylvania Property Tax/Rent Rebate program opened Jan. 16, 2025. It’s free to apply for the rebate. You may be able to get back up to $1,000 on property taxes or rent paid in 2024.
Eligibility
Pennsylvania residents must meet the age guidelines (at least one of the following):
Seniors age 65 and older
Widows and widowers age 50 and older
People with disabilities age 18 and older
Income limits
Household income must be $46,520 or less per year
Does Social Security income count?
Half of Social Security income is excluded.
What if someone died in 2024?
Spouses, personal representatives or estates may file rebate claims on behalf of claimants who lived at least one day in the claim year and meet all other eligibility criteria. (See frequently asked questions.)
How much is the rebate?
$380-$1,000 (see chart below)
You might qualify for a supplemental rebate of an extra $190-$500 (Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Scranton only)
Homeowners & renters receive:
If you earned $0-$8,270 in 2024, the maximum rebate is $1,000.
If you earned $8,271 - $15,510 in 2024, the maximum rebate is $770.
If you earned $15,511 - $18,610 in 2024, the maximum rebate is $460.
If you earned $18,611 - $46,520 in 2024, the maximum rebate is $380.
Timeline
Rebates are distributed starting July 1, 2025.

(Note: Under Pennsylvania law, the Dept. of Revenue evaluates the program before the June 30 deadline every year. If extra funds are available, the deadline will be extended to Dec. 31. Applications postmarked by that date will be accepted for processing. To date, funding has been available to allow all who qualify to benefit from the program.)

How to check the status of your PA Property Tax/Rent Rebate
Check the status of your PA Property Tax/Rent Rebate. The PA Dept. of Revenue will request your Social Security number, claim year, and date of birth to check the status.
Funds will start being distributed after July 1, 2025.
