The Montgomery Bar Association is hosting its annual annual Pro Bono Virtual Name Change Clinic on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2025 from 4-6 p.m. Hosts are the Montgomery Bar Association and Montgomery County Prothonotary Noah Marlier.

The clinic is for Montgomery County residents, especially those in the LGBTQ community, who need a legal name change.

This virtual clinic is for a simple name change petition and is open to all adult residents of Montgomery County, PA including transgender, nonbinary, and gender non-conforming residents who are otherwise unable to access legal services in order to change their legal name. If you have a criminal history or other issues which may complicate the name change process, we may need to make a referral outside of this clinic.

Chester County Government offices and courts will open on a TWO HOUR delay today, February 12. Offices will open to the public at 10:30 AM.

Chesco Connect will be running dialysis ONLY today.

While the county government and court buildings will be closed for public services during this time, many County programs and services will continue, with staff working remotely as able. DOYLESTOWN - Get involved in Protection from Abuse (PFA) Court in 2025! The Bucks County Bar Association Pro Bono Committee & YLD present a hybrid CLE, "PFA Practice - The Facilitators' Perspective" on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025 from 3-4 p.m. at BCBA, 135 E. State St., Doylestown, PA 18901.

The Bucks County PFA Court Facilitators are volunteers who provide a vital service to the Court on PFA hearing days in Bucks County. Hear from a panel of Facilitators and a Family Law Judge about PFA practice from their unique perspective including a Q&A about being an effective and efficient advocate in PFA court.

Presenters will be Judge James McMaster, Kim Litzke, Hillary Moonay, Jessica Pritchard, Dan Keane, and Adam Tanker. It will be moderated by YLD Chair Abby Bukowski. 

Immediately following the CLE, the Young Lawyers are inviting the full membership to LULA, 34 E. State St., Doylestown from 4-7 p.m. for FREE food and beverages. This event is to help kick-off the Mock Trial program.

UPPER DARBY - State Sen. Tim Kearney and Rep. Gina Curry are hosting a free Expungement Clinic in partnership with Legal Aid of Southeastern PA. The clinic is Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Upper Darby One Center (municipal building), 100 Garrett Road, Upper Darby, PA 19082.

• Only Pennsylvania arrests are eligible.

• Only non-conviction charges, including ARD, or Summary Convictions with NO arrests in the past 5 years can be expunged.

• Non-summary convictions cannot be expunged.

• Most misdemeanor convictions can be sealed if 7 years have passed.

• Some limited felonies can be sealed if 10 years have passed.

• Must have NO current criminal charges.

• Must NOT be currently serving probation time.

NORRISTOWN - Join the Norristown Hospitality Center and Legal Aid of Southeastern PA (LASP) for a free legal clinic. The clinic is Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024 from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Norristown Hospitality Center, 530 Church St., Norristown, PA 19401.

EXTON - A free legal clinic will be held monthly at PA CareerLink of Chester County. The clinics are the second Wednesday from July-December 2024: Wednesday, Nov. 13 & Dec. 11, 2024.

Each clinic will be from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at PA CareerLink, 479 Thomas Jones Way, Suite 500, Exton, PA 19380.
